Let's Rate Books ๐Ÿ“–: Part I

In this article I would like to rate some books that I’ve read. If you are willing to buy any book soon, you can use this article to map your future plan. ✌️

Just some clarifications before diving in;

  • This blog was written as a recommendation & all of the ideas  available here are completely my personal opinions and understandings. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ‍๐Ÿ’จ

  • Also a little bit of flex and some of my personal “Kutty Stories” ๐Ÿฅฑ

Books are mostly unique in their own way. So comparing every book with another isn’t right. Deciding a book as “Good” or “Not Good” is completely upon the reader's objective and mentality. A book may be so interesting to me while that’s boring for you and vice versa.

So, I’ve planned to rate these books according to some following parameters,๐Ÿค

  1. Engagement/ Interesting.๐Ÿค‘

  2. Details/ Knowledge facts.๐Ÿ˜ฏ

  3. Direct real Life application / usage.๐Ÿšด‍♂️

  4. The amount of satisfaction after finishing the book.๐Ÿ˜Œ

  5. The change in the mindset about the concept of anything before reading the book/ feel of exposure.๐Ÿค“

The reason I’ve used the alphabet to rate instead of using the real term mentioned before is that those terms cannot be accurate to the things I’m going to tell. I mean, It’s hard to explain with plain English, you got me.

Sit back and relax, let’s jump into it.๐Ÿค–

1. “Brief Answers to the Big Questions” - Steven Hawkings

The very first book I read. Let me narrate my first story real quick. ๐Ÿ’ฉ

During my ALs, I travel from Mannar to Jaffna and return by bus with some classical songs from the 80s. ๐ŸšŒI had a 3G phone. You all may have experienced, during travelling our mind will think many strange things. I can still remember what I did on that Friday. Fortunately that day I was thinking about ancient greeks. My search on the phone was “How the distance between Earth and Sun was calculated when no electromagnetic waves were discovered”. ๐Ÿ”‰๐Ÿ”ŠAnd by searching some random problems while travelling, for a question I found an answer which was quoted in the book “Brief Answers to the Big Questions”. Out of curiosity, I started to read my first book as a pdf. Yes, that’s how everything started….✍️

About this book; I can blindly tell, this is the best book  I’ve read.๐Ÿ‘€ The simple language and terms he used to explain everything for a common man is amazing. This book was written as its name disclosed, answering questions which are frequently asked. This book is mostly about the things we never thought about physics. We all know Steven Hawkings as a renowned scientist and cosmologist. But you’ll feel his humour face while reading this book. Without any audacity as a scientist, he’ve explained everything as a next desk pal who explains you Math. ๐ŸคThe best part is, he mentioned the theories which are against his perspectives and also calmly explained how his opponent  might be wrong.

Personally, I felt this book as a life changer. At first, I was a little conflicted with his god concept and as time passed, time itself taught me the truth. I was so fortunate that I found this book as my first book. Thanks to Steven’s writing style which is the activation energy for my reading habit.๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“–

 2. “Cosmos” by Carl Sagen

After getting enlightened by Steven, Carl Sagen is the one who I’ve fallen for. He is the funniest.๐Ÿ˜ƒ There’s a concept in common that people who are best in their field are not great teachers. But Steven & Carl are totally against it. Carl in Cosmos carefully explained everything a scientist may think of. Cosmology, aliens, history, astronomy, biographics and more. More than a scientist, addressing him as a writer is highly appropriate. One common thing in both Steven and Carl is they’ll make you fall in love with the universe(Physics in other words). Highly recommended.๐Ÿฅธ๐Ÿฅต

3. “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki

The first personal financial book I’ve read. Let me give you an outline. Author explains how his dad (Poor Dad: Professor) and his friend’s dad (Rich Dad: Business Man) influenced his childhood and which are the paths he used to choose during his adulthood๐Ÿคญ. The way he breaks all our stereotypical mindsets, is a little bit bitter to accept. But at the end of the book, you’ll realise that he is 100% correct. Specifically perfect for the people who are in their 20s now. My recommendation for this book is, download the pdf and read right now. Other ways you gonna miss manythings after your 20s.๐Ÿค

4. “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie This book is all about influencing people with your behaviours. Absolutely worth the read. Author added many stories to prove himself in many parts of the book. I personally don’t know how true they are. But not gonna lie, they seem legit. ๐Ÿค“And also I don’t like the part where the author is being a little extreme that he is willing to preach that we can influence people no matter which situation they are in. This motive seems a little disturbing and selfish to me. Anyways, this book might be so helpful for those in the business and administration field.๐Ÿ‘”๐Ÿคต‍♂

5. “4 Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferriss This book basically suggests to you the steps to be financially independent. As the book’s name disclose, the objective of the book is to make you work just for 4 hours a week. Smells like bullshit? ๐Ÿ’ฉNah, the author suggests all the steps and makes it obvious. Also elaborated the four steps to be taken to achieve the goals Define objectives, Eliminate disturbances, Automation and liberation. Worth the read and so much fun.๐Ÿคก๐Ÿ‘ป

6. “Rich Dad's Cashflow Quadrant” by Robert Kiyosaki

In this book (The book from Rich Dad Poor Dad author) the author classified people’s cash flow in a 2ฯ€๐Ÿ’€. The  quadrants are business owners, employees, self employed &  investors. The author tried to explain each and every aspect of each quadrant. Very powerful classification and no matter which quadrant you are in, his advice is for all types of people. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿฆฒ๐Ÿ‘ฑ‍♀️๐Ÿ™‍♀️๐Ÿ™‍♂️
